What You Get

2-pack: 2 x 2900ml stainless steel containers. Each container comes with a tempered glass lid, LFGB-certified silicone seal and vent plug. Orders are dispatched from Melbourne within one business day.

The Details

  • 2900ml capacity, 22cm L x 17cm W x 10.6cm H. Sized for batch cooking, marinating and bulk pantry staples.
  • Microwave-safe stainless steel base. Remove the glass lid, place in the microwave, reheat and eat.
  • Oven-safe. Freezer-safe. Dishwasher-safe; top rack for the glass lid.
  • Electropolished inside and out. Marinades, tomato-based sauces and curries leave no stain and no residual smell after a dishwasher cycle.
  • Tempered glass lid lets you see what's inside without opening it, handy for telling the lasagne from the lentils.
  • LFGB-certified silicone seal and vent plug. Independently lab-tested.
  • Nesting design. Containers stack inside one another when lids are off to save cupboard space.

The Bigger Picture

  • Batch cooking and bulk buying usually mean cling film, zip-lock bags, half-open packets and a bin full of plastic. Decanting into a multi-purpose reusable container cuts a lot of that out, permanently.
  • 304-grade stainless steel does not chip, warp, stain or absorb odours. The containers you buy today work the same in ten years.
  • No plastic on any food-contact surface. Non-reactive steel body, inert glass lid, LFGB-certified silicone seal.
  • Plastic-free packaging throughout.
  • Australian-owned. Packed with care and dispatched from Melbourne.

Dimensions & Care

Dimensions: 2900ml, 22cm L x 17cm W x 10.6cm H

  • All parts are dishwasher-safe. Top rack recommended for the glass lid.
  • Microwave-safe stainless steel base. Remove glass lid.
  • Oven-safe for the container body, up to 200 °C. Remove glass lid.
  • Freezer-safe. Fill to within 1 to 2cm of the top to allow for expansion.
  • Not suitable for stovetop use.

Microwave-safe Use Guide:

  • Stainless steel base only. Remove the glass lid before microwaving.
  • Reheat in 2-minute increments at 1000W. Stir in between cycles and use oven mitts or a towel when handling the container. It may get hot.
  • Do not use in older 915MHz microwaves or combi ovens.
  • Do not microwave when empty.
  • Keep the container away from metal surfaces inside the microwave, including metal racks and the microwave wall.

Capacity is measured to the rim without the lid. With the lid sealed and reasonable headspace for freezing or transport, practical fill volume is approximately 2800ml (2900ml container).

Microwave Safe Stainless Steel Food Storage Container | 2900ml

$94.95

Is it safe to marinate meat in a stainless steel container?

Yes. 304-grade stainless steel is non-reactive, so it won't interact with acidic marinades the way some materials do, and it won't hold onto smells afterwards. The tight-sealing lid also means marinating meat can go straight into the fridge without a separate covering.

Can I store flour, rice, oats and pasta in a stainless steel container?

Yes. Stainless steel is non-porous, so it doesn't absorb the smell of what was in it before, and the glass lid lets you see what's inside without opening it. Decant dry goods into a clean, dry container, press the lid down until it's flush, seal it by closing the vent plug, and keep it in a cool, dry spot. Dry goods vary in bulk: a kilo of rolled oats takes up much more room than a kilo of rice, so check how much your bag holds before you decant.

Are these food storage containers airtight?

Yes. Closing the lid pushes excess air out through the vent as it seals, and the silicone plug then closes the vent completely, creating an airtight seal around the food.

This is a mechanical seal, not a vacuum seal, which uses a manual pump to actively draw air out of the space above the food, the way a dedicated vacuum sealer bag does.

Can this container go straight from the freezer into the oven or microwave?

While the 304-grade stainless steel base can withstand temperatures from -30°C to 200°C, the glass lid must be removed to avoid extreme thermal shock. If moving a meal from the freezer to the oven or microwave, let the container sit on the counter for 5 to 10 minutes, and remove the glass lid before oven or microwave use.

Will the 2900ml fit in my microwave?

The container is 22cm long and 17cm wide, so it needs a microwave cavity or turntable wide enough to sit clear of the walls (e.g., 25 L and above). Measure your turntable before you order, and leave a gap between the container and the microwave wall. Reheat in 2-minute increments at 1000W, stirring between cycles.

Is the 2900ml suitable for camping and caravan storage?

Yes. The stainless steel body won't shatter, and containers stack inside one another when the lids are off, which saves cupboard space. The tempered glass lid is tougher than standard glass but can still break if it takes a hard knock, so pack the lids where nothing lands on them.

What is the 2900ml best for compared with the 600ml and 1500ml?

The 2900ml is the batch container: a full lasagne, a big pot of soup, a family-sized marinade or bulk pantry staples like oats, flour, rice, legumes, pasta, dry noodles, etc. The 1500ml suits generous single meals and meal prep, and the 600ml suits individual portions, snacks and oats. The 3-piece set has one of each.
